Katie Archibald was born with sporting pedigree, starting out in the swimming pool and taking up cycling relatively late in 2011. She was spotted and recruited into British Cycling’s Olympic Development Academy in late 2013, making her Great Britain debut that year in the European Track Championships – breaking the World Record in the Team Pursuit!

Results came thick and fast from there, with gold medalling performances at the European Champs in 2014, before winning bronze in front of a home crowd at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the same year. Track was her focus, competing in Team Pursuit, Individual Pursuit and Points Race. To finish the year, Katie won the Team Pursuit World Championships, becoming Scotland’s first female World Champion.

In the following years’ the results continued both individually and as a team, with multiple European Championship titles, Olympic Gold in the Team Pursuit in 2016, before being appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to cycling. Impressive results continued with more World Championship victories in subsequent years and two medals from the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

In 2021, Katie represented Team GB in Tokyo, coming home with Gold in the Madison (with Laura Kenny) and Silver in the Team Pursuit. Katie continued her winning ways in 2021 claiming further gold medals at the Euros in the Madison, Scratch Race and Omnium, closely followed by a very successful Worlds in Roubaix winning four medals - gold in the Omnium, silver in the Points Race and bronze in the Madison and Team Pursuit.

The inaugural UCI Track Champions League was Katie's key focus to wrap up 2021, a new format of racing on the track as riders enter the winter months. Katie dominated the Endurance category winning the series in style in London.

The 2022 season was hampered by injuries, but Katie came back strong at the end of the season to be runner up in the Endurance category at the UCI Track Champions League. Katie had a great start on the track at the European Champs with a dominant performance in the Omnium to win gold, and also winning gold in the Madison (with Elinor Barker) and gold in the Team Pursuit. At the UCI World Cycle Champs in Glasgow, Katie also came home with a gold in the Team Pursuit as a key member of the squad.

Whilst the results show domination on the track, Katie is also a well-respected road cyclist, being a valued member of Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling for the upcoming road seasons.

Katie is a keen blogger and writes articles for various newspapers and magazines, sharing her humorous insights into the world of cycling and everyday life.
