Katie Archibald was born with sporting pedigree, starting out in the swimming pool and taking up cycling relatively late in 2011. Due to impressing those around her, she was spotted and recruited into British Cycling’s Olympic Development Academy in late 2013, making her Great Britain debut that year in the European Track Championships – breaking the World Record in the team pursuit with her fellow riders Laura Trott, Dani King and Elinor Barker.

The results continued with medalling results in the scratch races, and points races of the Track World Cup in 2014, before being part of the gold winning quartet breaking their own World Record again and taking away two golds at the European Championships in the team pursuit and individual pursuit. During the Commonwealth Games in 2014, Katie was in front of a home crowd winning a bronze medal in the points race and a top 5 finish in the road race.  To finish the year, she topped it off gaining the rainbow colours by becoming World Champion in the team pursuit (and Scotland’s first female track cycling World Champion).

In the following years’ the results continued both individually and as a team, with three titles at the 2015 European Championships (team pursuit, individual pursuit and elimination race), and twice in the omnium in 2016 and 2017 and 4-time European Champion in the individual pursuit between 2014 and 2017.

In 2017 Katie was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to cycling, and that year went on to win gold in the omnium at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships and also in the following year in 2018 in the madison with Emily Nelson. She also came home with two medals from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games – gold in the individual pursuit and silver in the points race. In 2020, at the World Track Championships in Berlin, Katie came home with a silver medal in the Team Pursuit, alongside her fellow Bespoke M teamie Elinor BarkerTo finish a 'different' year in 2020, Katie also came home with two gold medals from the Team Pursuit and Points Race at the European Track Championships. Looking ahead now, Katie is working hard towards success in Tokyo 2021.

She continues to dominate in the Six Day Series and is currently looking ahead and working towards the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
