Amanda Spratt (“Spratty”) is a road cyclist who began competitive cycling aged 9 as a BMX racer before moving across to road and track when she was twelve years old. She became World Junior Champion on the track in 2004 in the Points Race, and then began racing in Europe from the age of 18 with the Australian National Team until she unfortunately sustained a bad injury and had 1.5 years away from the sport to have surgery and rehab (in 2008/2009). Amanda became a professional road cyclist in 2012, her first contract with Orica-GreenEDGE, and became National Champion in the same year.

Amanda continued her form of good results, becoming National Champion again in 2016 and won the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. This success continued in seasons to come, being on the podium regularly in other prominent races such as The Women’s Tour Down Under (1st in 2019), the Liege-Bastongne-Liege (2nd in 2018), Amstel Gold Race (3rd in 2018) and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (3rd in 2019 and 2020). In 2020, Amanda was back on the podium at the National Champs, retaining her road race crown.

In 2018 she established herself as one of the best climbers in the world with a number of world class results, including two medals at the World Championships – 2nd in 2018 in Innsbruck, and 3rd in 2019 in Harrogate.  She also has two third place finishes at the Giro-Rosa, in 2018 and 2019. In addition to being on the podium in the General Classification, Amanda took away the Mountains Classification crown each year too.

In recent years, Amanda has continued in her team leadership role at Team BikeExchange, becoming Team BikeExchange-Jayco in 2022. Hard work over the years has also paid off, as Amanda was selected to represent Australia in Tokyo, her third Olympic Games.  

Unfortunately 2021 ended in iliac artery endofibrosis surgery, however her winter recovery progressed well and Amanda was back in the peloton for the 2022 season having had some good results and being a part of the Australian squad for a home World Championships in September.

It was all change for the 2023 season where Spratty was very excited to join Trek-Segafredo (now Lidl-Trek) and be on the start-line with new team mates to achieve some successful results. 

Amidst the busy schedule of racing and training, off the bike Amanda impressively graduated with a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations) degree from Griffith University in 2018.
